The Organizing Committee takes great pleasure in inviting you to the 4th Biennial Pan Arab Congress on the Sexual Medicine which will be held in Cairo, Egypt, February 26-28, 2009.
The 4th Congress will be a special occasion since the year 2009 marks the 10th anniversary of the Pan Arab Society for Sexual Medicine.
Despite the enormous medical progress during the past few decades, the last years of life are still accompanied by increasing ill health and disability. The ability to maintain healthy sexual living for as long as possible is a crucial factor of health and aging.
Therefore, the promotion of healthy sexuality and the prevention of disability in all men and women must assume a central role in medical research and medical practice as well as in the formulation of national health and social policies. Effective programs promoting healthy sexuality will ensure a more efficient use of health and social services and improve the quality of life. In addition, interventions such as improving endothelial function, hormone replacement therapy, as well as other modifications of lifestyle, including nutrition and exercise, may alleviate the debilitating conditions by preventing the preventable and delaying the inevitable. Evidence is available that such intervention not only maintain health sexuality but also maintain healthy life in general.
In light of this, public awareness of medical knowledge needs to be increased and basic, clinical, socioeconomic and epidemiological research intensified. This will necessitate a quantum leap in multi-disciplinary and internationally coordinated research efforts. Such efforts should be supported by the establishment of new partners between inter-governmental, governmental, industrial and voluntary sectors. All these considerations will be addressed by this 4th Pan Arab Congress on Sexual Medicine.
Cairo, the "Land of the Pharaohs," is the capital city of one of the oldest civilizations in the world. The people who lived there thousands of years ago left a rich legacy of art, architecture, and literature. Cairo is a unique blend of rich historical significance with a modern twist. These are just a few of the reasons to attend the conference in this city, where the technology of 5,000 years ago co-exists with the technology of the 21st century.
In striking contrast to its ancient surroundings of Pyramids and monuments, Egypt offers Red Sea scuba diving, up-beat night spots, luxurious hotels, and five-star restaurants. Romantic cruises down the Nile on festive river boats, a night at the grand opera, and shopping excursions within "The Heart of Egypt" are but a few samplings this bustling city holds in store. Cairo, for thousands of years was the playground of emperors and kings.
The 3rd Pan Arab congress on sexual Medicine in Dubai, 2007 was successful in all aspects, and we promise you even a more successful congress in Cairo. I am looking forward to welcoming you to Cairo in the year 2009 at what promises to be a most stimulating and enjoyable event.
